Mount Kilimanjaro Over View
Mount Kilimanjaro, with its three volcanic cones, Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira, is
an inactive stratovolcano in north-eastern Tanzania and the highest
mountain in Africa at 5,895 metres or 19,341 ft above sea level (the Uhuru
Peak / Kibo Peak). Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest freestanding mountain
as well as the 4th most prominent mountain in the world, rising 5,895
metres or 19,298 ft from the base.
Umbwe Route
Umbwe route is one of the most challenging paths and is suitable for
experienced trekkers. This is a very steep route, first taking you
through beautiful forest before culminating into a challenging approach to
the summit. Ice and mud can be expected on this track at any time of the
year, and as this is such a direct route,it's advised to not rush this
trek.
7 Days Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing Umbwe Route
Day 1: Nairobi / Moshi
Depart Nairobi early this morning with a shuttle to Moshi town,
over the Tanzanian border. Upon your arrival, you can visit the colorful
Moshi Market, take a walking safari, or you may prefer to relax in your
comfortable hotel for the rest of the afternoon, in preparation for your
trek tomorrow.
Day 2: Moshi / Umbwe Cave
After breakfast at your hotel, we can drive to Umbwe park gate
where we can begin to trek through thick rainforest to Umbwe Cave camp at
3000m, a 6- 7 hour climb. We will have dinner and spend the night here.
Day 3: Umbwe Cave / Baranco
We can begin to climb after breakfast to our Baranco camp for the
night,stopping for a picnic lunch on the way. This walk is very steep
through the ridge of both sides of the valleys, however the scenic views
make the climb well worthwhile. We will arrive at Baranco camp at 3950m,
set in beautiful moorlands, in time for dinner.
Day 4: Baranco / Karanga Camp
After breakfast we can begin a 3- 4 hour ascent of the Baranco
Walls reaching 4250m, before arriving at Karanga camp, at an altitude of
4000m, arriving in time for a hot lunch. After a rest we can walk around
to help us acclimatize to the altitude, before dinner at our Karanga camp.
Day 5: Karanga / Barafu camp
This morning we can continue our to hike onto Barafu camp at 4600m,
which will take us 3- 4 hours before we arrive in time for a hot lunch, a
rest and an early dinner. At 11pm we will wake for a hot drink and
snacks, ready to set out on our final trek to the summit, which will take
us about 6- 7 hours.
Day 6: Barafu / Uhuru peak (5895m) / Mweka camp
By very early morning we will be passing Stella point at 5750m,
before arriving at the Uhuru summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, standing at a
majestic 5895m, in time for the sunset!! After celebrating our conquest,
we can return back to Barafu camp which will take us about 3 hours, to
arrive in time for lunch. After a well-deserved rest, we can continue our
descent towards Mweka camp, to arrive a couple hours later in time for
dinner, now at an altitude of 3100m.
Day 7: Mweka / Moshi
After breakfast we can make our final descent through lush
rainforest to Mweka gate, which will take us about 2- 3 hours. You should
arrive at your Moshi hotel in time for a hot shower before lunch. From
here we can have arranged that you leave on a Tanzanian safari tomorrow or
transfer onto Nairobi, or any other destination of your choice to explore
further into Tanzania or Kenya.

NB: Proper equipments are vital to safe and enjoyable trek.
Sample Food Menu
During our expedition we normally provide enough, fresh and clean food. When it comes to cooking we cook different food at different elevation putting into consideration of the boiling point at different heights so that the food will be well cooked for easier digestion. We also have food supply on the Mountain to make sure that there is enough and fresh food through out the trek.
Considering all that, you need water to avoid dehydration, we will provide you with fresh fruits.
BREAKFAST: Fruit Juice, Fruit, Cereal/Porridge, Eggs bread/French-toast/Plain-toast/Pancakes, Sausages, Margarine, Jam/Honey, Tea/Coffee/Drinking chocolate. Boiled egg, spinach omelet or fried egg with beacon and bread.
SNACKS: Peanuts/Crisps/Popcorn/Cookies.
LUNCH: Sliced Carrot and Cucumber stripes, Avocado slices, Boiled egg, Vegetable/Meat cutlets, Sandwiches (Egg/ Cheese/Tomato/Tuna/Meat/Peanut butter), Fruit. Boiled egg, salami sandwich, cheese, French toast, Macaroni, meat sauce and bread.
DINNER: Soup of the day, Bread, Salad, Rice/Pasta/Potatoes, Chicken/Meat, Mixed Vegetables (Carrot/French -Beans/Cabbage), Lentils, Fruit Salad, Fruit with custard, Tea/Coffee/Milo/Drinking chocolate. Spaghetti with meat sauce or fish with rice, Fried beef with roast potatoes, rice, carrots, cabbage. Roast chicken with vegetable, fried rice, green pepper, carrots.
ON WAY TO THE SUMMIT (midnight snack)
Hot Chocolate, Tea or coffee and biscuits, Glucose, Chocolate bar, orange squash or soup.
NOTE: We are flexible and willing to accept Tourist suggestions on Food menu and equipments information during our trek.
NB: You have the right to bring your food if you see any need to do so. But on our side, the food will be enough and fresh to avoid any side effects.
