Mount Kilimanjaro Overview:
With its three volcanic cones, Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira, is an inactive stratovolcano in north-eastern Tanzania and the highest mountain in Africa at 5,895 metres or 19,341 ft above sea level (the Uhuru Peak / Kibo Peak). Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest freestanding mountain as well as the 4th most prominent mountain in the world, rising 5,895 metres or 19,298 ft from the base.
Marangu Route
Marangu Route is the most popular route of Mt. Kilimanjaro. This is also the only route where solar power hut accommodation is possible for each night of the trek on the mountain. This route can be completed in 5 days, however your chance of conquering the highest point of Mt. Kilimanjaro is much higher if you can allow for the extra included day for acclimatisation.
6 Days Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing Marangu Route
Day 1: Nairobi / Moshi
Depart Nairobi early this morning with the shuttle to Moshi town. Upon your arrival in Moshi, you can have the option of taking a walking safari with your guide, visit the colorful Moshi Market, or you may prefer to relax in your comfortable hotel for the remainder of the day, in preparation for your trek tomorrow.
Day 2: Moshi / Mandara Camp (2750m)
After a full breakfast at your hotel, we can transfer to Marangu gate, which is about a 1 hour drive from Moshi town. From here we can begin our hike, stopping for a picnic lunch on the way before we arrive at Mandara Camp, which at 2750m and is about a 3- 4 hour hike. Here we will have dinner and sleep overnight.
Day 3: Mandara / Horombo hut (3720m)
This morning after breakfast we can continue onto Horombo Hut at 3720m, where we will sleep tonight. We can have a picnic lunch during our 5- 6 hour hike.
Day 4: Extra day at Horombo – Acclimatisation
After breakfast this morning we can head to Mawenzi Hut at 4600m where we can stay for about 3 hours which will help us to acclimatise for our final ascent,before returning to Horombo Hut for lunch, and a relaxing afternoon before dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Horombo / Kibo (4703m)
We will walk through semi- desert landscape today to arrive at Kibo Hut at 4703m, where we can have an early dinner and evening before our pre-dawn attempt of the summit.
Day 6: Kibo / Horombo
horombo hutsAt midnight, we will wake for a hot drink before we set off for the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro at 5895m. It is a 6- 7 hour trek before we have conquered the heights of Africa!! At the summit we can celebrate our conquest, take spectacular photos, and after a snack begin to head back down to Kibo Camp, now a 3- 4 hour descent. After a short rest, we can then continue down to Horombo Camp where we will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 7: Horombo / Moshi
After breakfast we can continue to descend the mountain to arrive at Mandara Hut in time for lunch before our last leg back down to Marangu Gate. Here our vehicle will be waiting to transfer us back to Moshi in time for a hot shower before dinner in your inviting hotel!!
Day 8: Optional
If you wish to go on a safari in Tanzania, transfer to Nairobi or any other destination, we will be happy to help you arrange this.

Sample Food Menu
During our expedition we normally provide enough, fresh and clean food. When it comes to cooking we cook different food at different elevation putting into consideration of the boiling point at different heights so that the food will be well cooked for easier digestion. We also have food supply on the Mountain to make sure that there is enough and fresh food through out the trek.
Considering all that, you need water to avoid dehydration, we will provide you with fresh fruits.
BREAKFAST: Fruit Juice, Fruit, Cereal/Porridge, Eggs bread/French-toast/Plain-toast/Pancakes, Sausages, Margarine, Jam/Honey, Tea/Coffee/Drinking chocolate. Boiled egg, spinach omelet or fried egg with beacon and bread.
SNACKS: Peanuts/Crisps/Popcorn/Cookies.
LUNCH: Sliced Carrot and Cucumber stripes, Avocado slices, Boiled egg, Vegetable/Meat cutlets, Sandwiches (Egg/ Cheese/Tomato/Tuna/Meat/Peanut butter), Fruit. Boiled egg, salami sandwich, cheese, French toast, Macaroni, meat sauce and bread.
DINNER: Soup of the day, Bread, Salad, Rice/Pasta/Potatoes, Chicken/Meat, Mixed Vegetables (Carrot/French -Beans/Cabbage), Lentils, Fruit Salad, Fruit with custard, Tea/Coffee/Milo/Drinking chocolate. Spaghetti with meat sauce or fish with rice, Fried beef with roast potatoes, rice, carrots, cabbage. Roast chicken with vegetable, fried rice, green pepper, carrots.
ON WAY TO THE SUMMIT: (midnight snack) Hot Chocolate, Tea or coffee and biscuits, Glucose, Chocolate bar, orange squash or soup.
NOTE: We are flexible and willing to accept Tourist suggestions on Food menu and equipment information during our trek.
NB: You have the right to bring your food if you see any need to do so. But on our side, the food will be enough and fresh to avoid any side effects.
